For 7th grade science, our method is similar to the 6th grade science method. Our text is Abeka’s Science: Order and Reality. The At mid-year, a project for our local science fair is done.
Order and Reality has 11 chapters, each chapter is divided into several sections. There are 58 sections total, so 2 sections a week can be done in the school year and leave several weeks for a science fair project. Each section ends with a “Brain Drain” and “Thought Provoker” which are sets of questions or problems designed to review the section. A section can be read, studied, and reviewed in about an hour.
There are various experiments throughout each chapter. A set of chapter tests is also available. As for 6th grade, we consider Science subjects as valuable exposure for our children. We did not require the experiments and usually did not require the chapter tests. Your children may have an interest in more hands-on experience so you may focus on the experiments more than we have.
