Bible – 7th Grade

Comments Off on Bible – 7th Grade

The most important subject of all is the Bible. Our goal is to be conformed to the image of Christ. We know that to be like Him, we must see Him. We see Him primarily through the Bible which is His spoken, written revelation to the world. Your child should have a habit of daily personal Bible reading and prayer to begin their day. The Bible part of their education is a supplement to that – not a replacement.

7th grade begins with the next gospel of John study in the Inductive Bible Studies for Kids series: Jesus – Awesome Power Awesome Love: John 11-16 by Kay Arthur and others. This is a seven week study. The final study in the John series is then done, Jesus – To Eternity and Beyond: John 17-21. This is a six week study.

As your child matures and is ready for a less child-oriented study style, you can use another series by Kay Arthur and others: The New Inductive Study Series. We began with That I May Know Him: Philippians/Colossians. This series is for adults, but moves at a pace that won’t overly challenge your developing young adult’s patience. This book is a thirteen week study at 7 days a week, so will take 18 weeks when worked 5 days a week.

Others in this series are continued in 8th grade, including the studies on 1/2Timothy & Titus; Acts. We have not seen the whole series but would recommend it based on the others we’ve used. When shopping, note that ChristianBook.com beats Amazon’s prices by about $2/book on the Inductive Study Series. Try there first:

For the break between 7th and 8th grade, we studied A Good Start by Charles Spurgeon. Each chapter focuses on a particular Biblical setting or character. The Bible passage is read followed by the chapter. A brief essay or other writing assignment can also be assigned. This is a good break between the inductive studies or for a lighter summer schedule.
